PHANIENDRA SOMRAJ - Bollywood

Somraj was born and raised in Hyderabad, India and has been in San Diego for almost 10 years. Coming from a musical family, he developed a passion and ear for music from a young age. He is also a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and has taught Indian Bollywood Dance for few years in this same studio.

Somraj is also a songwriter and composer. He plays with a local reggae band named Strictly Skunk Band. Somraj has a very unique and adventurous style to his original music; a blend of Western and Eastern cultures creates grooves and melodies with an exciting twist. One of Somraj’s strengths is his ability to perform with a complete immersion of emotion. His choreographies stands out and gives importance to the meaning of the words.

His audience instantly becomes captivated and moved by his interpretation of words and melody. His art is an extension of his heart, and he opens his heart to all. He is planning to pursue other ventures through the foundation he has from his experience of arts. He is a Mechanical Engineer by profession which makes him a very organized and vision driven instructor when teaching.

PURVI SHAH - Bollywood & Folk

Graceful and an expressive performer/choreographer, Purvi embarked upon her journey of self discovery through dance at a tender age of 5. Born in India and raised in the UK, she brings with her an eclectic fusion of culture and tradition. Over the years, she has trained in Indian classical dance forms such as Bharatanatyam and Kathak, Indian folk, Bollywood and Belly dancing, to name a few. With over 20 years of experience in the field of performing arts, she is known to be a versatile artist and a creative ideator.

Dearly loved and admired by her students, she continues to share her passion for dance & theater with both pros and novices of all ages. She is an active contributor to community projects and specializes in event choreography & production. In past, she has performed at The National Indian Television Network, affiliated with Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan – UK, conducted workshops for 600+ students and held fundraising events for various charitable organizations such as: Cancer Research – UK/ British Diabetic Association. She has also choreographed foot-tapping numbers for numerous events in San Diego such as International Jewish Film Festival, Festival of Lights – Balboa Park, Colors – Annual Productions, Fox News – “Million Dollar Arm” Movie Promotion, Sankara Eye Foundation, CRY, Federation of Indian Association and House of India.

Aside from pursuing creative arts, she is also a Mergers & Acquisitions professional, with a Masters in International Human Resources and is a Chartered Member of the CIPD, UK.

NEHA JAITPAL - Bollywood & Contemporary

Neha began dancing at the age of 3 in Mumbai, India. She was fortunate to learn from mentors like Sumeet Nagdev (Modern Contemporary), Guru Lata Surendra (Bharatanatyam) , Guru Sonia Parchure (Kathak), Miss Ava Bharucha (Classical Ballet), Preeti and Shannon (Salsa), Tripura Kashyap (Creative dance and Dance Therapy), Indian Folk Dance, Vipin Kazhipurath (Kalaripayatu), Gregory Hancock, Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre (Dance Theatre), Steve Rooks, Ex-Principal dancer from Maratha Graham Dance Company (Contemporary), Liz Lea (Bharatanatyam Contemporary), James Morrow (Modern and Hip hop).
