Naad studios is proud to present a workshop “Basics of Natyashastra” with Dr. Pappu Venugopala Rao from Chennai.
The topics covered in this workshop are introduction, overview, Rasa, Bhava(emotions and feelings), Abhinaya(expression of 4 types), Vritti or styles and Pravritti(regional variations).
The workshop will be held on Sunday, 13th March 2016 from 9 am to 1 pm with small tea break. At the end of the workshop each attendee will receive a certificate of completion for this workshop. It is a very informative class for those who are learning or teaching dance or who have an interest in knowing the various aspects of dance. This workshop is useful for any dance style.
Here is some information regarding Dr. Pappu Venugopala Rao.
Dr.Pappu Venugopala Rao is a well-known Indian educationist and renowned musicologist. He specializes in Telugu and Sanskrit literature. He is also a writer and has written on varied subjects such as Music, Culture and spiritual subjects. Since 1980 he had been working with the American Institute of Indian Studies and retired as its Associate Director General for the Southern Indian region during 2008. He is presently the organisation’s Consultant. He is actively involved in research activities in Carnatic Music and Dance songs. He has delivered lectures and presentations on the “Natyashastra” for reputed dance schools, Art universities, television in India and around the world.
Dr.Pappu Venugopala Rao is also a book reviewer for the newspaper The Hindu and a contributing editor to Sruti Magazine. He is currently one of the Secretaries of the Music Academy, Chennai.
